Adventure Manapouri & Guided Trout Fishing

Hi, i have been providing Guided Fishing in Fiordland for about 30 years now. In the beginning I guided alongside farming which made a wonderful lifestye. These days I still have a hobby farm to raise a few sheep and cows, hens, turkeys and as the area is open with no paddocks beside the river we have attracted a lot of wildlife.

Whether it is with clients or on my own, every day is a good day when it comes to fishing. My personal preference is still water fly fishing and find this ideal for sight fishing. However I do have some favourite out of the way river locations I also enjoy through private properties. So regardless of conditions there is usually a good place to fish.

I also enjoy getting away in my 5.7 metre Aqualite boat, I have to say after all these years and many different vessels, this is my favourite. Being a pontoon it is extremely stable to fish from, but also handles the water really well and is softer riding than pontoon vessels tend to be.

With my partner Donna, we run a water taxi across the river at Pearl harbour, Manapouri to the Manapouri Track. This track is still little known and provides a great opportunity for walkers to enjoy tramping in a quiet area in the National Park.

Fiordland is a unique area to live, it provides us with an amazing lifestyle where we can work and play at the same time.

When making plans to come to this area, don't rush. It's an amazing environment to experience, with a choice of staying at Manapouri for the ultimate in peace & tranquillity or Te Anau with a few more services 20km's away, there are lot's of choices for experiencing this area.
